We have experience helping a diverse client base in warehousing services, transportation management, supply chain management, order fulfillment and labor needs.SummaryThe Transportation Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the logistics of product movement to ensure timely, cost-effective, and safe transportation. This role works closely with carriers, vendors, warehouse staff, and internal teams to maintain efficiency and compliance with transportation regulations.Key Responsibilities:-- Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments.-- Select and negotiate with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.-- Track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve delays or issues.-- Maintain shipping records, documents, and reports for accuracy and compliance.-- Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.-- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies.-- Collaborate with customer service, warehouse, and procurement teams.-- Maintain TMS (Transportation Management System) data and reporting.-- Manage claims for lost or damaged goods.-- Assist with carrier performance reviews and vendor evaluations.-- Develop and maintain efficient routing plans for current customer shipments to optimize cost and service.-- Analyze transportation data to identify routing improvements and cost-saving opportunities.-- Collaborate with sales and logistics teams to provide routing solutions for new business and RFP responses.-- Monitor carrier performance and adjust routing strategies as needed to maintain service levels.-- Ensure all routing complies with customer requirements, company policies, and regulatory standards.Qualifications:-- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).-- 2+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain coordination.-- Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, freight rates, and carrier regulations.-- Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., TMS, ERP systems, Excel).-- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.-- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.-- Understanding of DOT, OSHA, and other transportation-related regulations.Preferred Skills:-- Knowledge of EDI transactions and routing guides.-- Familiarity with lean logistics or continuous improvement practices.Xpedient Logistics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
