Description: DEPARTMENT\: CCHMC SUPERVISOR'S TITLE\: Unit Clinical Manager, Respiratory Care Senior Clinical Director TITLES SUPERVISED\: N/A TOTAL NUMBER OF FTE's DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY SUPERVISED\: 0 PURPOSE OF POSITION\: To function as a professional respiratory therapist and to apply indepth knowledge about the care of infant, children, adolescent and adult patients and clients. To rapidly recognize and anticipate subtle changes based on past experiences; to coordinate and communicate with appropriate resources as needed. To serve as a department and division-based role model and resource for policies, procedures and patient care. To assist others in setting respiratory care and department priorities, keeping in mind the education of self and others while maintaining a cohesive environment. Responsibilities·AssessmentAssess patients, clients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex and quickly recognize normal parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status based on past experience as it relates to cardio-pulmonary health.·Plan of CareParticipate in developing a plan of care, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Involve patients, clients, families and health team members in establishing goals. Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients, clients and families. Demonstrate initiative in remaining current on CCHMC policies, procedures and standards. Act as a resource to peers. Intervene for the attainment of care goals. Facilitate the linking of patients, clients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Evaluate effectiveness of care giving, and shows on going follow through in care delivery. Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment of care goals. Demonstrate proficiency and compliance with established practices in documentation. Practice can be identified as research based.·Serving as an Expert ResourceAssist peers and team members in acquiring department specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Is recognized as a department resource for respiratory care practice and operational systems.·LeadershipAssist others and provide leadership in implementing the standards of the patient care and access. Promote reconciliation of disagreements, reduce tension, and create an environment in which people can explore their differences. Act as a role model and a department- divisional resource.·EducationMake education of patients, families and other hospital personnel a priority, using appropriate learning principles. Contribute to discussion in patient care conferences, committee meetings, inservices, staff conferences, etc. Assume responsibility for own learning. Initiate activities toward meeting those needs and integrate new knowledge into practice. Demonstrate proficiency in respiratory care practice and skills. Required\: ·Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Care Program ·Bachelor's Degree in a health care related field AND Therapists who clinically advanced prior to 7/1/2012 are exempt from this requirement ·Registry credentials by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) AND minimum of 2 years respiratory care experience and licensed by the State of Ohio ·Kentucky and Indiana licenses may be required for specific positions ·Must maintain active membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care Preferred\: ·Pediatric Advanced LifeSupport ·Neonatal Resusucitation ·NPS Certification by the NBRC Working in the CCHMC Sleep Lab\: · 10-14 Week Orientation Schedule · 3 Week Rotating Matrix Schedule · Shift and Weekend Differential · 2\:1 Patient Ratio or 1\:1 Patient Ratio for more difficult study types 2018 Sleep Lab Employee Engagement Survey Results Revealed · 100% Enjoy Their Job · 95.8% Intended to stay with CCHMC for the foreseeable future · 95.8% Would Recommend CCHMC as a good place to work Hospital Benefits for those scheduled to work 20-40 hrs per week\: · Group Health, Dental and Vision Plans · Pre-Tax Spending Accounts · Group Short and Long Term Disability · Tuition Assistance- Reimbursement up to\: o $5,250 for undergraduate courses o $7,500 for graduate courses · Supplemental Insurances · Hospital Paid Pension Plan o Pension plan in which you earn an amount equal to 15% of your pay each calendar year in which you are paid 1,000 or more hours of service
