Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required Chemotherapy
certification preferred Must-Have: Telemetry interpretation and
monitoring skills Ability to manage and administer chemotherapy
Experience in accessing and managing ports Experience in blood
product administration Description: The role involves caring for
adult and geriatric patients. Common patient diagnoses include
various solid tumor cancers. The focus is on providing support
throughout the cancer journey, from diagnosis to end-of-life care.
Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall
prevention measures. The unit has a staffing ratio of up to 1:5.
There is no set or blocked scheduling; shifts may vary based on
department needs. The first week of training will include
orientation in a classroom setting, followed by on-unit
orientation. Candidates should have recent experience within the
last three years. Floating to other medical-surgical oncology units
may be required. Professional references are required, including
one from a supervisory or leadership role. Travelers must be
cooperative with credentialing procedures. Completion of
fingerprinting is necessary as part of the hiring process. 5
