Provide expert nursing care to patients on a specialized stepdown unit delivering critical care to progressive care patients recovering from cardiac procedures. This role encompasses comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions, collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. The position supports a 20-bed unit transitioning toward a patient care technician model, requiring adaptability and clinical expertise in managing complex cardiac care. Key Responsibilities: - Perform thorough patient assessments and formulate evidence-based plans of care. - Administer cardiac medications including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, milrinone, and heparin safely and efficiently. - Manage advanced cardiac devices and lines such as central lines, TR bands, chest tubes, and support high-flow oxygen therapies including BiPAP and Vapotherm. - Act as a pivotal coordinator between hospital departments, patients, and families to ensure seamless care transitions and education. - Respond proactively to dynamic patient conditions with clinical judgment and teamwork. - Uphold patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, advocating for patient dignity and ethical care. - Maintain compliance with nursing standards and participate in ongoing professional development. Qualifications and Experience: - Current RN license in the practicing state or covered under a Compact RN license. - Minimum of 2 years of RN experience; progressive care or telemetry experience strongly preferred. - Certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NIH Stroke Certification and critical care credentials (CCRN/PCCN) preferred. - Experience with post-catheterization care and managing dysrhythmias strongly valued. - Proficient knowledge of electronic health records (EPIC preferred).
