Minimum years of experience required Description: Position is
Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Provides psychological
services to various populations including patients, residents,
consumers, students, and inmates. Offers advice and consultation on
psychological matters. Conducts psychological and
neuropsychological evaluations and assessments. Administers,
scores, and interprets psychological tests. Reviews pre-admission
or pre-treatment data. Conducts interviews and writes evaluation
reports and treatment plans. Evaluates treatment plans developed by
others and assesses the quality of services rendered. Coordinates
psychological services and programs. Assists with program
development and conducts research on psychological assessment and
treatment. May act as lead worker over lower level psychological
services staff. Conducts individual and group counseling and
psychotherapy. Counsels on issues such as substance abuse, trauma,
self-injury, suicidal ideation, grief and loss, impulse control,
family issues, health issues, interpersonal issues, and criminal
behavior. Follows up on treatment and writes progress reports.
Conducts psychological evaluations and court-ordered forensic
evaluations. Reviews patient charts, past hospital records,
prosecution files, court entries, and indictments. Interviews
direct care staff, individuals, guardians, family members,
attorneys, and case managers. Conducts suicide risk assessments and
participates in involuntary medication hearings. Evaluates
potential for suicide and consults with psychiatrists. Conducts
assessments and works with clients to establish reasons for living.
Teaches coping strategies. Diffuses and de-escalates issues and
role models positive behaviors. Conducts ongoing assessments to
identify, prevent, and contain any significant lethality risks
among individuals for imminent harm to self or others. Provides
psychological services under Adult Parole Authority oversight.
Coordinates services between institutional mental health services
and community mental health service providers. Completes re-entry
accountability plans and conducts home visits with field officers.
Provides specialized therapies such as aggression control, coping
with neurological disorders, and victim empathy. Offers
psychological treatment in the form of psychoeducational classes
and time-limited group psychotherapy. Participates in treatment
team functions and provides technical assistance, guidance, and
instruction to treatment team members. Recommends policies and
procedures for patient assessment, evaluation, and treatment.
Evaluates defendants and patients for mental status and competence
to stand trial and writes comprehensive forensic reports and
recommendations for courts. Responds to subpoenas and testifies in
court on forensic and psychological matters. Writes discharge
summaries and behavioral recommendations for transitioning
individuals. Prepares statistical reports and graphs summarizing
behavioral progress and interventions. Acts as liaison for
individuals with treatment teams, rules infraction boards, parole
boards, and management staff. Reviews multiple charts and treatment
summaries. Serves as an advisor on psychological matters for
various groups and organizations. Prepares materials and
participates in staff development and in-service training.
